Fear Facers: An Empowerment Club for Women
What is Fear Facers?
Fear Facers is an empowerment club for women who experience anxiety that is blocking them from pursuing personal and professional goals. This group is targeted towards women whose inner critic is loud and controlling, leaving them feeling, inadequate, irrelevant, and invisible within their professional and personal lives. Fear Facers is a non judgmental space where women learn and practice the skills needed to raise their standards of behavior from others in the workplace and in their personal lives. Through the use of dramatic therapy techniques, and exposure and response therapy techniques, members will learn how to set boundaries, and challenge their limiting self narrative, while facing the fear of judgement from others.

The mission of this club membership is to empower women who experience interpersonal anxiety, to raise their standards of behavioral expectations from others, personally and professionally. This program aims to empower women to challenge their self limiting beliefs, and to increase their self worth. This membership offers experiential learning that can help women pursue their personal and professional goals with bravery and courage.
What Is Drama Therapy?
Drama therapy is an embodied practice that is active and experiential. This approach can provide the context for participants to tell their stories, set goals, solve problems, and express their feelings. Through drama, the depth and breadth of inner experience can be actively explored and interpersonal relationship skills can be enhanced.
Drama therapy utilizes play, embodiment, role play, storytelling, witnessing, performance, and improvisation to help people make meaningful change.
What is Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy?
The exposure component of ERP refers to practicing confronting the thoughts, images, and situations that make you anxious and provoke ruminating thoughts that are hard to control. The response prevention part of ERP refers to making a choice not to do a compulsive behavior once the anxiety or ruminations have been “triggered.” Compulsions can be behavioral or come in the form of thought obsession. Replaying the scenario over and over again, for example .
Exposure therapy purposefully provokes an anxious response so that the brain can practice tolerating fear. The power of exposure work is in the practice of non- avoidance. Through these interventions we learn that we can face hard things and move towards the life we want with courage.
What Can I Expect?
Each session of Fear Facers will begin with community building activities meant to cultivate trust and intimacy between group members. Afterwards you will be lead through experiential drama therapy activities that will allow participants to practice the embodiment of bravery within interpersonal dynamics at work and home. These exercises usually provoke laughter, and are playful and fun.
The second hour of session will be devoted to exposure and group collaborative work in which members will be guided to create monologues and scenes that depict an anxiety provoking interpersonal scenario. Members will receive coaching from their group peers to pursue a more courageous and empowered response to the anxiety. Through this process you will be rehearsing the embodiment of new behaviors so that your mind and body can integrate this into your everyday life.
