Blue Pill vs. Red Pill

In The Matrix, the main character Neo is offered the choice between a red pill and a blue pill by rebel leader Morpheus. Morpheus says "You take the blue pill... the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill... you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes." The red pill represents an uncertain future, unknown to Neo at the time, he takes the red pill —it would free him from the enslaving control of the machine-generated dream world and allow him to escape into the real world, but living the "truth of reality" is harsher and more difficult. On the other hand, the blue pill represents a beautiful prison—it would lead him back to ignorance, living in confined comfort without want or fear within the simulated reality of the Matrix. Neo chooses the red pill and joins the rebellion.
“You take the blue pill... the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill... you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes." Remember: all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.”
Which pill are you going to choose? The blue pill is alluring. It’s comforting, cozy, and safe. No need to extend yourself or feel uncomfortable. No need to ever be brave. You can live in peace, supposedly. The red pill will unplug you from the comfort and safety. It will take you into the unknown. You could fail, you could lose, you could be a laughing stock, and all the many stories your fear can conjure.
The Brave Women’s Transformation Project seeks to offer the same concept metaphorically. This project aims to help women deconstruct the matrix of societial and family constructs they have been living in through curriculum that is based in the values of bravery, community, creativity, and play. Through the embodied therapies of dance/movement and drama therapy as well as the study of professional actor training techniques women are given a direct path to move into the unknown and the uncomfortable so that they may expand and create the life they want.
